Simple Tips to Optimize Your Life

A New Beginning

As some of you may or may not know, I’m in the midst of many “new beginnings”. I got married a little over two months ago to the love of my life and I just started a year long journey towards becoming an Integrative Health Coach through the School of Integrative Nutrition! I'm so happy I decided to take this leap and go with my gut by pursuing this new venture and cannot wait to help people achieve their health and wellness goals.

My plan is to share some of the information and insights I'll be learning throughout the year that I think will aid in a healthier and happier lifestyle. Today, I’ll be sharing some simple ideas to help optimize your life. Take the tips you want to apply to your own life and discard the one’s that don’t interest you. My only request is that you reflect on why you think some of the tips are “a waste of time.” They’re probably the tips you should actually try incorporating into your daily life. Isn’t it funny how we tend to ignore the things we need to work on the most? Denial never helps anyone. Let’s break the cycle!

A Few Simple Tips to Optimize Your Life

Eating Habits:

  • Make eating a pleasurable experience. Try to enjoy your meals instead of rushing through them.

  • Notice and honor how your body reacts to different foods and eat what WORKS for YOU!  Don't eat what you think you should be eating based on the media or other people.

Relationships:

  • Focus on the small things. write down 3-5 things you're grateful for each morning.  I'm learning to cultivate this new habit by writing them as a memo note in my phone.

  • Celebrate what's new and good in your life instead of dwelling on the bad things.

Attitude:

  • Honor Negative Emotions. These types of feelings are normal and it's important to work through them instead of fighting them.  Fighting your feelings eats at your soul and addressing the emotions you have will help you grow.

  • Enjoy life. Sing, dance, laugh, play! Find your silly side every day and embrace it. It doesn’t matter how old you are.  We can still have fun.

  • Develop a sense of humor. Keep things light! Life doesn't have to be so serious all the time! When you're serious, so is your face...and that leads to wrinkles.... relax your jaw and stop frowning! If you’re going to get wrinkles, at least make them smile lines.

Meditation and Exercise:

  • Recharge yourself. Embrace the quiet times. Whether you meditate, read or take quiet strolls...find your inner zen.

  • Enjoy physical movement. Make exercise part of your daily life to boost your vitality and feel good in your body.

  • Find the exercise for YOU! Experiment with different types of exercise till you find the one that works for you. If you haven't learned by now...Pilates is my choice of physical movement. What's yours?

Till next time....

Let the journey to a healthier, happier you continue to flourish
